Frequently Asked Questions

Preparing for Battle

Q1 (2025.06.13)

What do I need to play the Godzilla Card Game?
You’ll need a 4-card Monster Deck, a 50-card Main Deck, and around 3 to 10 Rage Cards, all made up of Godzilla Card Game cards.
For first-time players, we recommend a Starter Deck, which comes with everything you need to start playing.

Q2 (2025.06.13)

What’s the difference between a Starter Deck and a Booster Pack?
A Starter Deck is a pre-built deck product recommended for new players. It includes a ready-to-play deck, a playmat, and other items so you can start playing right away.
Booster Packs are recommended for players who want to collect more cards or further power up their decks. Each pack contains 7 cards chosen at random from a variety of cards.

Q3 (2025.06.13)

How many players can play the Godzilla Card Game?
The Godzilla Card Game is designed for 2-player battles.
Outside of matches, you can also enjoy collecting your favorite cards to display.

Q4 (2025.06.13)

Is there anything I should be careful about when using card sleeves for my Monster Deck?
You may use different sleeves with different artwork or designs for your Monster Deck.
However, make sure that holograms, logos, or other markings on the front do not cover any game-relevant information or otherwise interfere with gameplay.

Q5 (2025.06.13)

Is there anything I should be careful about when using card sleeves for my Main Deck?
All cards in your Main Deck must use the same type of sleeve so that individual cards cannot be distinguished.
For example, sleeves that have noticeable scratches, warping, or holograms only on certain cards are not suitable.
The front of the sleeve must also not cover any information needed to play the game.

Q6 (2025.06.13)

Is there anything I should be careful about when using card sleeves for my Rage Cards?
You may use sleeves with different artwork or designs for your Rage Cards.

Q7 (2025.06.13)

Do the sleeves for my Monster Deck, Main Deck, Rage Cards, and token cards all have to match?
No, they do not all need to be the same.
However, all cards in your Main Deck must use the same type of sleeve so that individual cards cannot be distinguished.

Q8 (2025.06.13)

Can I use plastic protectors (such as top loaders or hard cases) on my deck?
Plastic protectors such as top loaders or hard cases may be used on Monster Deck cards and Rage Cards only.
They cannot be used on Main Deck cards.

Q9 (2025.06.13)

Is there anything I should be careful about when shuffling my deck?
You must shuffle thoroughly enough that neither you nor your opponent can know or track the position of any specific card in your deck.
After you shuffle, it’s best practice to allow your opponent to shuffle or cut your deck as well.

Q10 (2025.06.13)

Are there any deck-building requirements for the Monster Deck?
Your Monster Deck must contain exactly 4 monster cards: one monster of rank I, one of rank II, one of rank III, and one of rank IV.
All 4 monster cards must be the same color as your rank I monster card.

Q11 (2025.06.13)

Are there any deck-building requirements for the Main Deck?
Your Main Deck must contain exactly 50 cards.
All cards in the Main Deck must either be the same color as your rank I monster card in the Monster Deck, or be white.
Additionally, cards with a footprint icon showing the number “2” (in the lower-right corner) may be included up to a total of 10 copies in the Main Deck.

Q12 (2025.06.13)

Can I include fewer than 9 copies of cards with a footprint value of “2”?
Yes. The limit is up to 10, so including 9 or fewer is completely fine.

Q13 (2025.06.13)

How many copies of the same card can I include in my deck?
You may include up to 4 copies of the same card across both your Monster Deck and Main Deck combined.
For example, if you place 1 copy in your Monster Deck, you may include up to 3 copies in your Main Deck.

Q14 (2025.06.13)

Does “same card” mean cards with the same card name?
No. “Same card” refers to cards with the same card number.
Cards with identical card numbers count as the same card regardless of their name variations.

Q15 (2025.06.13)

Can I include 4 copies each of a parallel version and its original version if they share the same card number?
No. Parallel versions or alternate-art versions that share the same card number count as the same card.
For example, EBP01-075 “Godzilla, King of the Monsters” and its parallel EBP01-075+ may be included only up to 4 copies total.

Q16 (2025.06.13)

Can I include cards with a footprint value of “2” in my Monster Deck?
Yes, you can.

Q17 (2025.06.13)

If I include cards with a footprint icon of “2” in my Monster Deck, does that reduce how many I can put in my Main Deck?
No.
Cards with a footprint icon of “2” placed in the Monster Deck do not count toward the Main Deck’s limit.
You may still include up to 10 of them in your Main Deck.

Q18 (2025.06.13)

Can I include any number of monster cards in my deck?
Yes, you may include as many monster cards as you like.
However, cards with the same card number—including the four in your Monster Deck—may total no more than 4 copies combined.

Q19 (2025.06.13)

Are all cards that depict monsters considered “Monster Cards”?
No.
Only cards that explicitly say “Monster Card” in the upper-right corner are treated as Monster Cards under the rules.

Q20 (2025.06.13)

Can I include any number of Clash Cards in my deck?
Yes.
You may include as many Clash Cards as you like, but cards with the same card number are limited to 4 copies total.

Q21 (2025.06.13)

Can I include any number of Strategy Cards in my deck?
Yes. You may include as many Strategy Cards as you like.
However, cards with the same card number are limited to 4 copies total.

Q22 (2025.06.13)

Do the four cards in the Monster Deck have to be specific, predetermined cards?
No. Any Monster Cards may be used in your Monster Deck.
You only need to match the required color and shared traits; you are not restricted to “exclusive” or preassigned monsters.

Q23 (2025.06.13)

How many Rage Cards should I prepare?
There is no fixed number, but it’s recommended to prepare around 3 to 10 Rage Cards so you don’t run out during gameplay.

Q24 (2025.06.13)

Where should I place my Rage Cards during the game?
Place them somewhere they won’t get mixed in with your deck or discard pile—
for example, next to your Monster Deck or next to your Strategy Card area.

Q25 (2025.06.13)

Do I need to reveal the contents of my Monster Deck or Main Deck to my opponent?
No. You do not need to reveal either deck to your opponent.

Q26 (2025.06.13)

If I have versions of the same card with different rarities, can I treat them as separate cards and include more than four copies?
No. Rarity differences do not make cards count as separate cards.
Cards with the same card number are treated as the same card and are limited to 4 copies total.

Q27 (2025.06.13)

Can I mix cards from Starter Decks, Booster Set #1, Booster Set #2, and other expansions?
Yes. As long as the deck-building rules (such as color and card limits) are followed, you may use cards from any expansion.
